WEKA Customer’s Q&A
WEKA Features and Benefits
Weka.IO is a data management platform that offers several key features and benefits:
Key Features:
- Cloud Native, Datacenter Ready: It can run seamlessly on-premises, in the cloud, and burst between locations.
- Faster than Local Storage: It can accelerate large-scale data pipelines with reduced epoch times, the fastest inferencing, and the highest images/sec benchmarks.
- Multi-Protocol Support: It supports Native NVIDIA GPUDirect Storage, POSIX, NFS, SMB, and S3 access to data – simultaneously.
- Metadata Management: It can handle all types of data types and data sizes. With today’s environments reaching 10s of millions or even billions of files, the metadata design of traditional enterprise storage can’t keep up. The WEKA® Data Management Platform patented data layout and virtual metadata servers distribute and parallelize all metadata and data across the cluster for incredibly low latency and high performance no matter the file size or number.
Key Benefits:
- Class-Leading Performance: A single cluster can deliver up to 18,300,000 IOPs.
- Maximum Efficiency for Improved Sustainability: It allows customers to decrease their carbon footprint by up to 260 tons of CO2e per petabyte stored.
- Ultimate Choice of Deployment Options: It can be deployed On-Premises and in Hyperscaler, Hybrid, and GPU Clouds with the WEKA Data Platform.
WEKA Pricing
Weka.IO offers a Pay-As-You-Go (PAYG) license. The pricing for Weka.IO is $14,750 per month total, including all EC2 infrastructure and Weka.IO licensing. This cost also includes the S3 capacity for Snap-To-Object backup, but not for tiering. This cost is based on a 1 year reserved instance pricing for the EC2 components.
There are also other pricing options available. For example, the starting price for Weka.IO Matrix is USD $99.50 per year, and the starting price for Weka is USD $1800.00 per year.
For more specific details about the pricing, it is recommended to contact Weka.IO directly.
Payment Method
Weka.IO offers a Pay-As-You-Go (PAYG) license which allows cluster payment on an hourly basis, as part of your AWS bill. To enable PAYG, subscribe to WekaFS distributed scalable file system in the AWS Marketplace.
After subscribing to the AWS Marketplace, create a PAYG plan in your Weka account. A PAYG plan is a plan ID and a secret key pair connected to a payment method, which is your AWS Marketplace. You can change the payment method at any point without reconfiguring the Weka system because the plan ID and secret key pair do not expire unless you delete them yourself. This method also allows the connection of multiple Weka system clusters to the same PAYG plan.
To enable the PAYG plan in the Weka system cluster, open a terminal and connect to one of your cluster servers. Copy and paste the <plan-id>
and <secret-key>
from the PAYG plan you created above to the following CLI command: $ weka cluster license payg <plan-id> <secret-key>
. After enabling PAYG, you can verify that it is active by running the weka status
command. If something has gone wrong, the Weka status shows an error indicating the issue.
At any time, it is possible to reset the licensing status to return to an unlicensed mode, using the following command: $ weka cluster license reset
. Resetting a license enables the entry of new PAYG plan details or switching to other licensing methods that might be available in the future. Note: Momentary disabling and re-enabling of licensing does not affect operation of the Weka system cluster and is completely safe.
